Surviving the Holidays

The Holiday season is full of wonderful events, many of which involve eating & drinking! In the past, I have definitely over-indulged, so this year will be a test of my new resolve and restraint. I am going to remove temptation from the kitchen – I am not going to do any fancy baking (perhaps shortbread!), I am not going to make bits & bites (which only I eat) nor am I going to buy eggnog, or my favourite PC candy cane ice cream.

We are planning to entertain quite a bit, but I’ll have vegetables on hand for vegetables & dip (instead of rich appetizers) and I’ll make more simple meals and I’ll also try to exercise portion control in both my eating and drinking. That being said, one of the things I have learned is that it is OK to treat oneself from time to time, as long as you get back on track quickly. So here is my resolution to myself: less nibbling, better food choices, portion control and the occasional splurge – all the while relaxing and enjoying the season! Happy Holidays everyone!!
