Knowing what you can and cannot do

I was visiting friends in California recently and as we know most days are filled with beautiful sunny days which allows for a lot of various outdoor exercise options. My friends wanted to go hiking up this mountain, which sounded like a great idea. As we walked there the roads got hillier, this became a little more difficult for me as we approached the mountain.  I am conscious of where my heart rate should be and I was already at my maximum and I had not even started up the mountain yet. I decided not to overdo it and told my friends to go ahead and I would walk around the park so I was still getting my cardio without raising my heart rate too high. My friends understood and it worked out for all of us.

The important lesson; knowing what you can and cannot do – we can do anything we want to; we just need to monitor our heart rate closer than other people.
